did the model T Ford get better mileage than your sweet ride?
Car mileage: 1908 Ford Model T -25 mpg
2004 EPA average for all cars -21 mpg
You know the human race has finally arrived! We have never had, experienced or made so many scientific advances in the last few years than we could have dreamed of twenty years ago.
Just think of all the advances we have made. We now have steel that bounces like a rubber ball; I can virtually spy on your house across the ocean with the click of a few buttons. Hey my car has more computer power than the first space shuttle that landed on the moon!
Wait! Did I really say that? Yep. Is it true? Yep. Well that dosen't make sense. Why?
Well if the Ford T had a mileage rating of 25 mpg in 1908 and in 2004 more than onehundred years later the average car had a rating of 21 mpg. That just can't be possible.
Some people say you can't make that comparison because of all the changes made to vehicles since then. You are right, we should not be able to compare our vehicle gas mileage to a 1908 because you should be getting more than double the mileage than our Fathers did over a hundred years ago.
Hey I bet you don't even get the EPA's figure for your vehicle. The Detroit News states that " most drivers achieve only about 75 percent of the EPA mileage figures".
For years some of the public has been trying to push for better mileage but now EVERYBODY is pushing for a huge jump in mpg gains. The question is why has it taken us so long to notice that our vehicle performance should be double than what they are? We do have the know how. It is because until now it really has not affected our pocket book.Well its hurting now and it seems everywhere I turn people are looking for real answers to a real problem.
We could come up with all kinds of conspiracy theories and ideas of the big oil and automakers taking us to the cleaners but really it is time we act in the present and actually do something about it. And yes you can. First take the EPA with a few cups of salt. Who are they really working for annyways? Not you thats for sure. So you can be assured they will stand for the best intrest of the big auto makers. All the hype the EPA has been putting out that there are no mileage enhanceing products on the market that work is a box of rotten cat fish! Yes not all work but believe me most do actually work. I use alot of them on an ongoing basis's and can confirm their performance by computer analysis. I see mpg gains of over 20 percent on vehicles regulary and it is not that hard to get 30 percent or more in some situations.
Your vehicle can get better mileage, you just have to look around and see what will work for you
