A Traveler's Guide to Personalizing Luggage

There are many ways that a person can personalize the luggage they own. The use of the luggage might determine which pieces are personalized and which luggage pieces only require a label. A traveler wants to personalize luggage because it might make traveling abroad seem like an exotic experience. Some people personalize their luggage just because it makes them feel good on the inside.

To a child, personalized luggage might make them feel more grown up and worthy of some special amenities that others in their age range are not privy to at that point in life. A child might have their name embroidered in beautiful script on one side of the luggage. If the child gets to choose that thread color, then they are likely to feel extra special when they carry their luggage with them on travels.

People used to put all of their contact information on luggage tags when they traveled before the events of September 11th. With a new focus on airline security, people are now using Post Office Boxes instead of street addresses, or they might choose to list a telephone number with no other form of personalization attached to it. Airlines lose luggage occasionally, and people feel safer if strangers do not have access to their personal information.

Some parents personalize luggage that their child will take to school each day because there are so many backpacks that look alike. A child will not be confused at the end of the day if they see their first name etched on the front of their backpack in plain sight of everyone in the room. A Mother might have a special message stitched inside the luggage that makes the personalization even more special.

There are certain trendy touches that can be added to luggage to personalize it. A person that loves jewelry might choose to attach charm bracelets to the side of the bag to let the world know that it could only belong to the fashion queen in class. A sports enthusiast might choose to attach a key ring to the side of their backpacks at school just to let people know how much they love footballs, baseball, or soccer.

An executive might choose to apply embroidered labels to the cover of a laptop case that bear only a first initial and a last name. They might also choose to use this personalization technique on the luggage that they carry with them on business trips. Women in the business world often use this practice of personalizing luggage as a form of self-protection. Outsiders do not need to know which sex a particular piece of luggage belongs to and never will if the person locks the luggage securely.
