Summer time is a time of frequent snacking and also frequent toothaches for kids. Now the entire family can take advantage of a new address for professional dental care. Husband and wife dental specialists operate this family owned professional practice. The wife's occupation is a dental hygienist, while her husband worked in the US Army Dental Corps for six years. Both husband and wife were stationed in northern Europe, the location where Cindy helped in starting a public dental health program.

Among the things that they do as dentists are root canals, cleaning, and fillings. He also performs some specialized services that the new cosmetic bonding techniques, aesthetic fillings and even full mouth reconstructive surgery offers. He believes in dental care that prevents the spread of dental diseases. We feel that the focus of modern dentistry is prevention, teaching patients to take care of themselves. We regard this creed as true and in doing so give patients our time so that they can learn from us how to keep their mouths healthy.

He advises people to brush after every eating time. A person who brushes violently with a hard tooth brush risks damaging his gums. A soft tooth brush is advisable, because of its flexibility and effectiveness. Properly flossing should be learned and made into a habit. Many kinds of floss exist, including those with peppermint flavors. Cavity prevention on kids is solved through sealants, while adults may improve their dental health by trying a fluoride rinse.

He gives this one piece of advice as well, which is stop smoking. Don't let smoking be a part of your life if it isn't yet. Lung cancer may result from smoking, and a lot of people already know that. Cancer of the mouth and throat are also directly caused by smoking, and a lot of people may not know this.

Any sore found on the lips, gums, or inside of the mouth that does not seem to heal may serve as a warning of the presence of oral cancer. If you are experiencing a certain numbness in your tongue and palate, or there is swelling in your mouth, chances are you may have acquired oral cancer. If you feel or see something abnormal in your mouth, don't wait for it worsen. Stop by your dentist's office at the soonest possible time.

There is a big chance of successful treatment if oral cancer is detected early. Periodontal gum disease is also a serious issue for this dentist since it affects the tissues and bone that support the teeth. Although there's no specific age when it hits, a lot of adults suffer tooth loss because of it. About 75% of the adult population is expected to suffer some sort of gum disease. Periodontal gum disease is detectable, but it requires careful periodontal examination to be spotted.

Bleeding gums while brushing your teeth are among the warning signs. Red, swollen, or tender gums, gums that have pulled away from your teeth. Another indicator would be infected areas between your teeth and gums. Other things to observe for possible periodontal gum disease are loose teeth or teeth that change their positions.
